What is considered a fever in 1 year olds? My son has had a fever of 101.5 on & off since last night. Tylenol brings it down, but not a lot, usually only to about 99.5.

Anything over 100.4 is a fever. Anything under that is considered normal body temp.

99.5 is not a fever. Normal body temp is 98.6 +/- 1 degree.

Okay, so he has had a fever for almost 24 hours now; I'm making a doctors appointment 1st thing in the morning. Thanks mamas!

My dd just got over a viral infection - not ear, lung, tummy related that we know of. Her fever did the same thing. It lasted 2 1/2 days of fever, and about a week of symptoms total. Motrin did a lot to help the fever break as Tylenol did the same for her. Our friends' 8mo got it and a rash as well. Their pedi said rash was related. But for viral, just treat the symptoms. GL! Hope it's nothing serious!

My medical hotline says 104+ is where you start to worry and take them to a hospital. DD had 103 once and I was just told to give her tylenol and lots of water to keep her hydrated.
