Hello all,
I recently had my second baby and with the addition to the family we could use a little extra income but I have a problem with being away from my children so much therefore, I got interested in the idea of being a WAHM. The problem is that I just have no idea where to start. I know what sort of things I can make and what I am good at but I just don't know where or how to sell them. I don't know if I need a personal website, how to handle payments and advertising, also I don't know if I need to do anything to legally sell things on a website or anything like that so If someone who knows the answers or has a successful business has any answers to my questions or any pointers about how to get started I would greatly appreciate it. I just want to be able to be at home and watch my little ones grow....not sit in an office all day while someone else gets to experience all of those great moments and milestones!

Thanks alot
Britney

Lots of WAHM moms here on DS use Hyena Cart to sell their wares. There's also Etsy.com Both of those sites will, for a small fee, provide you with a shopping cart and online store. They handle all the monetary transactions through Paypal so you would need a Paypal account if you don't have one already.

Each state is different in what it requires to start a business. The website for your Secretary of State or state tax authority should have a lot of good information. You will probably want to consult with a CPA to figure out the financial and tax implications (unless you happen to be really good at sorting through government publications).

You can do it!
