DD is 8 1/2 mos and has started crawling fast and getting into/under everything! I am a sewing wahm and I used to put her in and exersaucer or tummy time on the floor while I sew, but now that she's trying to pull herself up on anything she can grab, it's not working! She no longer like the exersaucer and jolly jumper of course! And the pack n play is not big enough to play so she gets cranky in it. So I wanted to section off a part of our living room as a play area for her, large enought to crawl around. I read up on the Safety st brand SuperYard XT, and most people gave it bad reviews since is can move around on laminate floors (what I have). I was thinking of laying down those soft foamy puzzle mats and putting a play yard around it? Would that work?

I think it would. I have one and I love it. Although I use it at home mainly to block off the TV area we recently used it on vacation as a playyard, and it worked great. You could even see about getting something to put on the bottom of the connector pieces (that actually touch the floor) to 'stick' it to the floor, but we used it on a wooden deck and had no problems with sliding or anything.

When mine are mobile we teach them to stay on a blanket so there are no artificial barriers to contend with the quirks of, plus, its mobile and works anywhere you can carry a blanket (doctors offices) or find a rug (other people's houses).

That works for us. I got the big foam squares at Target. Now he has free roam of the upstairs unless I'm really busy, I'll put the fence back up.
