Ok, dd has just had the epiphany and has quickly become a professional crawler!! I worry about her little knees- it's hot here not, usually in the mid 80s-90s, and I've really liked having her dressed in short little light weight jumpers to keep her cool, where her legs are completely uncovered. We have hard, bare floors and area rugs- the oval, braided type- they're pretty hard and rough, not too forgiving to little knees! I hate the thought of having to put pants on her all day- anyone have thoughts on what to do??
I've seen some actual knee pads, and heard people talk about baby legs, but didn't want something that would slip around, or something to keep her legs too warm. Please let me know your ideas and thoughts!!
Thanks!

My MIL bought my son these (http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=488756&cmSource=Search) knee protection pads. IMO, it was a waste of $20. I tried them out a couple of times and they were a pain. They slid down if they weren't super tight. If I tightened them as much as possible, DS wasn't happy. And the big factor in me throwing them in a random drawer and not using them again was that they negatively affected my son's crawling ability. I would check out a pair of babylegs. The ones that I have seen are made of thin, breathable material. Here's a link (http://clothdiaperclearance.com/catalog.php?category=464) to a website that you can get them for about $7.00.

I made my Dd a bunch of babyleg type things but shorter than the leggings that went from just above the knee to just below. Worked great!

I would look into baby leg warmers. I like the ones from Sew Crafty Baby (http://www.sewcraftybaby.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=BabyLegWarmers/Leggings). They can be scrunched up so that most of her leg is uncovered when it is warm and in the winter they are great under pants to cover that gap between the socks and the pants.

You can get out a pair of yours or hubby's old socks, cut the foot off and fold it over your dd's knees. Or you can get wrist bands and put those on her knees.

Little baby knees are a lot tougher than they look. LOL! Unless she complains, I wouldn't worry about it. My DS disliked the feel of the cold kitchen tile on his knees so he figured out how to walk on hands and FEET like a bear then once he was back on carpet he'd use his knees again. ^_^

I figure their little knees get callouses soon enough. My little one just started crawling, too.

Great idea about the socks!! I'll have to try that out! DD hasn't really complained, I just know my knees hurt after kneeling on the floor for a minute or two, and I'm not even scooting around... maybe I'm being overly sensitive... thanks for the ideas though!

Keep in mind that when you are down on your knees, your skin is experiencing much more weight and pressure due to your size as an adult than a crawling baby would. :goodvibes:

If babies knees weren't made for crawling then they'd come out of the womb walking..JMO. Your baby will be fine..I can guarantee that our knees were never covered when we started crawling and we are just fine!
