I have to hire an in home sitter for two of my children, Miles 2 and a half, and Sophia four months. I will be taking classes to finish my degree in the fall, so I have to leave them for only about ten or so hours a week.

I am thinking about what kinds of questions to ask the girls I am interviewing, but thought it might help to ask other mamas what you asked when hiring someone!!:goodvibes: Thanks in advance!!!!

In no particular order:
How long have you been caring for children?
What experience do you have with children?
What expierance do you have with children that are in the age range of my children?
What are your interests?

Why did you choose babysitting and not a different kind of job?
Do you know CPR/First Aid?
Would you be willing to get certified?
Do you have references?
Are you willing to have previous employers contacted?
Have you ever been arrested? Is so for what?
Are you willing to undergo a background check and provide your SSN?
Are you employed If so what days/hours do you work? How long have you been employed there?

What is the most difficult situation you have encountered while babysitting and how did you handle it?
How do you discipline?
What are some activities you like to do with the children?
What do you expect from the families you babysit for (i.e. having people over, phone usage, computer usage, food etc.....).
What time/day are you available?
Are you willing to use cloth diapers?
Are you willing to use a sling/carrier?
Do you know how to use a fire extinguisher?
Do you have children?
What are your interests?
Would you be uncomfortable with the use of a nanny (survellance camera)

Then I would provide examples of various emergency/disciplanry issues and tell them to explain how they would handle that specific situation.
