View Full Version : Does your pump "speak" to you?

Okay, this may sound nutty, but the sound my pump puts out (from the suction) repeats the same "word" over and over to me as I pump....it says Baba ghanoush (yes, the mashed eggplant dish). I know, I know :loony:.

But does anyone else's pump "speak" to them...... especially late at night.

It's been a while since I pumped and can't remember what mine said - but it was definitely speaking to me! I'm glad to hear other moms think things like that too. For a while I just thought it was the postpartum hormones . . .

Yes. I'm glad I'm not the only one. It was how I would know the exact right speed to set it on to get maximum results.

lmao!

Mine did too! Before leaving Walhell to be a SAHM, I would be tired, about to die of heat exhaustion, and I would hear it saying different hilarious things. I had nothing to do with both hands occupied so I'd "sing" along with it or find the different things it was saying. I thought I was the only one. Thank you OP! :D

Mine said "pump-ing, pump-ing, pump-ing" over and over again, just to remind me what I was doing. :giggle2:

funny.... mine just sits there and says 'why don't you ever use me?!?!?!'....

but really, I hear the word 'happy' over and over and over (on the rare occasions that I actually get to pump...)

I would pump with a ameda in the car while taking DD to kindergarten and she would tell me its saying "thank you" ... and it would say different things.

My at work melela never says anything. LOL

LOL, this is one of the reasons that I bought my Symphony - you can't hear it at all  but my PIS would say all kinds of crazy things. It drove me nuts.

LOL My pump used to speak to me too! I"ve been doing it so long now that all I hear is pump sound because I don't really pay attention to it but in the beginning I could definitely make a word out of it and repeat it over and over with the pump lol.

The womb bear also used to speak to me! :giggle2:

This is hilarious! When I was pumping for DD in the NICU there was one symphony there that always said "Pump it up Pump it up" during the 'letdown' cycle. Glad I'm not the only one hearing things.

I don't know what mine says, but I say "OUCH! Turn this greedy thing down! I haven't used it in three months and its killing me!!!!" My 13 year old daughter, Sinoah just rolled on the bed laughing at me. The things we do for a night out at the movies!:banghead:

Oh, this is hillarious. I just laughed out loud - again, and again. I really am glad I'm not alone in the talking pump thing. I don't remember what all it said, but it did talk for sure! :giggle: The PIS I used to have said lots. I just can't remember what right now. I'll have to pay more attention to what my freestyle says now. :giggle:

In the let down phase it says walrus and at the "right" setting I swear I hear wildebeest.
I didn't understand this phenomenon when I was renting a Symphony but now that I bought a PIS it talks. :)

This thread is cracking me up! When I was pumping throughout the night when the twins were newborns, I swear my PIS used to say "we pump." It was encouraging me, you know, you're not awake on your own... we're pumping together.

That's how my sleep deprived mind viewed it. :giggle:

Just stumbled across this -- so funny! I'd completely forgotten. I only usually used a hand pump with DD, but way back when I was pumping at work for DS, the pump would say things. Sometimes it would change from one day to the next. I can't even remember what any of them were. But I remember DH thinking that was very weird when I told him. :giggle:

I just stumbled on this thread and I am so happy I am not the only one, I thought I was slightly looney hearing my PIS talk to me. I have only been pumping regularly for about 5 weeks to up my supply and supplement my twins and never pumped for my daughters so this is all new to me. My pump used to say " Yo da, Yo da" (Yoda, from Star Wars!) now it varies but can't remember recent ones at the moment. Just glad it's not just me!

This thread makes me wish I could remember what my pump said to me. It must not have been that important though, if I can't remember. :giggle2:

Hahahahaha that's so funny! I thought it was just me- in the hospital when DD was born, I swore the pump was saying "nip-ple, nip-ple, nip-ple" over and over and over... no one else could hear it! At home, it said "whata pill, whata pill, whata pill"

Everyone thought I was crazy- glad to see other people's minds do strange things when that pump is running too!! :D

This thread is cracking me up! I would have never told anyone that...but I so have the same thing happen. Sometimes I swear it says "Not good." Over and over, but other times it sounds like other things. Hehe...I would have NEVER guessed so many other mamas heard their pumps talking too.
