Has anyone ever done this? I was going to take a course in September, but it is now full and the next one isn't until the end of October. I am due the first week of november and the city the clinic is in is 250miles away. I am wondering if anyone has other suggestions ie a good mp3 for relaxation, or a hypnobirthing course on an MP3. This is my 2nd child, so I have done this once, but I would like to get a better handle on the relaxation part!

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Thank you. I will call tomorrow and see if they ship to Canada. If not, I may be able to get it shipped to VT and a friend can bring it home if she gets it in the next 10 days!

If you are good at devoting time to REALLY learning it, then I've heard that it can be very helpful. If you think you can just kind of 'scan' the book, and practice once a week, you're wasting your money. The people I've seen it work with were practicing their exercises DAILY...

I'm in Canada too and just checked their website and looks like they ship to Canada. Not the cheapest shipping but at least provides an option. I'm really interested and going to have to consider getting this. Amazon.com has it on their website but as an item that does not ship to Canada which is too bad.

Did hypnobirthng with my first birth... it was good during pregnancy in helping to ease my birthing fear and it was good general childbirth prep... however was not helpful in labor. I just didn't know what to do with it.

I am due in a few weeks and have been doing hypnobabies this time. So much better IMO. I am excited to see how it works for me during my birthing time. I feel way more prepared.

Yeah that!

I am going through the Hypnobirthing class right now. Hypnobabies is supposed to be different, but I have not read that book. From what I hear the big difference is that hypnobirthing is an "all inclusive" birthing class (like going over the physical aspects, what happens in labor, etc) and hypnobabies is just about the relaxation.

Some women can self teach, but I find it very helpful to be able to ask questions. So I would definately do as much practicing and reading on your own and ask a lot of questions about the material to women who have been through it.

Good luck!

I agree Hypnobabies is the way to go! I am working on it now for my first birth. They have an online group too, so if you ever have any questions there are a bunch of people willing to help!

Thanks for all the input mamas. I just ordered it (much to my DH's grudgingness, but he did give the ok!) I should have it in 2 weeks provinding it doesn't get stopped at customs for too long! I am a pretty good self learner I think (I have 1 university degree from 50% self study) I should be able to devote enough time to it in the evenings when DD is asleep.
