I'm pretty sure my 2.5 yr old DD has a patch of eczema. It started out 3 weeks ago and I kept putting it off as a heat rash. But it is NOT going away and now she is really starting to scratch at it often. I keep meaning to call her doc, but I forget everyday! I feel terrible! But I have been in and out of the docs office and hospital out of town a lot lately with my pregnancy and by the time I remember to call, it's too late. Does anyone know of any home rememdy?

I've heard calendula cream works. My son has pretty bad eczema from a wheat intolerance and I like to try the calendula cream first before using a prescription med. I've also heard that using a perfume and dye free lotion like Cetaphil regularly can help. Good luck!

Calendula cream or ointment does work. We use Badger Baby Balm and it works every time. Also try CJ's Sewing Room's Butt (and Body) Butter. It's sold by cjbug here on ds. It works great as a moisturizer. I use it on myself and both of my ds. We all have eczema issues and the Butt Butter has helped cut down our outbreaks by a lot!
vitamin e oil, coconut oil, or calendula. They all help. Also, see if you can pinpoint whether or not it's an allergy/sensitivity that is causing it, and if it is, see if you can pinpoint what is causing it. Also, a bath with either corn starch or oatmeal will help relieve the itches.

DS has eczema real bad, but his is from regular allergies and in the winter when the air is dry (we live in Colorado so it's bad up here) and then it flairs up during pollen season. He see's a pediatric dermatologist and has to be on a steroid cream and childrens zyrtec everyday. It's not my favorite and we've tried home remedies and creams and everything in the book and then some but it just doesn't work. He has VERY sensitive skin like DH so he can't even use anything with dyes or scents (i.e soaps, laundry soap, creams, etc). One thing that the dermatologist did say was not to use lotion, but use "creams" as the lotions are water based and dry out the skin more so when you have eczema. We use Baby Aquaphor (in a jar) and it's like a jelly and he gets lathered up twice a day in the winter! It works really good!

Our youngest has it horrible, full body scalp to toes, what helps tame in to an extent is Calendula cream. (His is from multiple food allergies though) but I swear by it!!!!!!

Our pedi has told us to use creams in a tub - nothing from a pump-bottle. The thicker the better. Before DD finally got some prescription steroid cream, we had a fairly decent regimen which we have tapered off since the prescription cream is working very well.
Mornings - grease up with Cetaphil (not the generic, the real stuff in the tub)
Evenings - hydrocortisone cream (to help with itching) topped with Aquaphor (again, real stuff in the tub)
It worked great until she had such a severe case which was cracked and bleeding and we couldn't get it under control without the steroid cream which took an entire week to help it clear up.

Diet can have a lot to do with it too. You might want to watch her dairy intake (if there is any) :goodvibes:

Yep! We use it on DD2 who has had yucky eczema since she was 3 wks old. DS has it on his upper arms and occasionally breaks out on his thighs and butt :) We use it daily. We also have the eczema cream by Triple Paste. That stuff is super thick but works so well for the eczema patches on DD2's back. That stuff is great!!
