My son is 15 months old and I really don't want to cut his hair because I think his curls are darling. My husband is tired of people commenting on our gorgeous daughter. He thinks the curls need to go.
I'm wondering how long you waited for the first haircut.

Our youngest had amazing curls, but during the summer he was 1.5 years old, he would sweat BAD... so I got them cut. They were soft and so very curly, now his hair is straight and like brillo!!!! :(

I regularly trimmed all 3 of my kiddos hair starting around 3 months just so it wouldn't grow in uneven. My girls started going to an actual salon at about 2 years old. I'm not sure when we'll cut my son's hair, I guess we'll have to see if it looks cute long or not. :dunno:

DD didn't get a haircut until she was about 18 months. Every once in awhile she gets her hair trimmed, she's only gone to a salon once.
I started to trim DS1's hair around 12 months, just so it would grow in even. I didn't buzz his hair until he turned 2yo.

I'm hoping my almost 12 month old grows some hair soon. Then I can come back and answer this poll. :giggle2:

DS1 had his first haircut just before a year old. DS2 had his at 6 months because it was down to the tip of his nose and he looked girly if I tried to do anything with it! I'm hoping to get to 15 months with DS3's hair.

I chose two options. My 1DS was only 6 months b/c his hair was straight and pointed right up in the air, until he was 6 months old.. It started to lay down and wasn't as cute so we got it cut. My 2DS was about 18 mos, his hair was growing in curly and I love it, but it started to get in his eyes so we thought we should cut it. My dad is a hairdresser so he does thier haircuts, he says my 1DS should have a mohawk b/c his hair is stiff and he could wear it well. I just have to convince DH to let him do it!

DS got his first haircut right before he turned a year because he had a mullet :giggle2: Otherwise I would have waited longer

My boys were both 2 when they got their first haircuts. As long as they're dressed as boys, people will get the point that they're boys.
If it makes you feel any better, people always call my 3-month DD a boy - even yesterday when she was wearing a rainbow shirt! :)

I trimmed her bangs at 7.5 months... I think it was... I've trimmed her hair 2 times since... Just her bangs and around her ears.
Because she didn't like tummy time or crawling, she wiggled around on her back until 7 months and had a huge bald spot in the bag. It's finally gone now, but she was born with so much hair that her bangs and sides have grown out and been tickling her ears and in her eyes and her hair in the back was short LOL.

DS got his hair cut the week before he turned one just 'cause he had a mullet. He's sixteen months now, and I've only trimmed the back once. I want it kinda longish, but I want it even too. :) And I don't want to take him to a salon, but I don't want to cut the front myself. My nephew's bangs were always completely crooked 'cause my sister cut them herself and it drove me crazy!

DS got his first cut around 14 months when his hair got really long and curly and I realized that his hair was going to grow like a mohawk no matter how long it got. I cut DD's bangs after I got sick of them not growing as fast as the rest of her hair when she was about 2 1/2 and now I totally regret it since I'm trying to grow them out :banghead:

Lol, I was having this discussion with someone else today. DS is only 2 months, but he was born with already a full thick head of hair and it has just been growing. Hubby wants the boy to have long hair like his dad. I'm like, "um, no because I will be the one taking care of it and washing food out of it for the next two years!"

DH cut DS's hair at about 6 months. He had been born with a full head of thick dark hair but it began thinning/falling out around 4 months. DH took the clippers to it when I wasn't home to "even it out!" Yes, I cried. All the new growth was blonde and very thick. Perhaps we should have done the same with DH who at 2 still has very thin hair.

DH just buzzed my sons hair. It didn't matter if he was wearing all boy clothes. People were calling him a cute little girl. It was ridiculous and DH hated it. Now he doesn't look like a baby anymore and I want to cry.

My oldest DD didn't have enough hair to cut until she was 3. My DS was about 10 months when he got his first cut, daddy is a marine so it's natural for us to keep his hair very short. Baby DD is 7 months and won't be ready for a haircut anytime soon.

my first was 3yrs old when she had her first haircut. she had shirley temple ringlets. They were stunning! it went stick straight since we cut it.. she is gonna be 11yrs old and still straight as a board. Hold onto the curls as long as you would liketo see them. They might not return. (hers were down to her butt when wet and would bounce up to mid back before we hacked them off) I wish I would have never cut it. but you live and learn.

we cut our daughter's hair at 2 years. she was born with a head full of hair that did not fall out. it was just a trim and to shape it a little because she would be mistaken as a boy, lol. we are a tad geeky and put superhero and videogame oriented shirts on her. if we have a boy next we will probably wait until he is 2 years old.

DS is 4 months old and could probably use a haircut, but DH and I decided to hold off until he is 12 months. I just don't have the heart to cut his sweet baby hair!

:hugs: Cry it out, then go hug your little boy.
DD doesn't have enough hair to cut (21m) and is often called a boy (even in a dress :headscratch: )

DS is 26months and has never had it cut - I dont plan on cutting it any time soon.
He was bald for a year, and now he has lots of fuzzy curls, but I think its cute.

ds got his hair cut at 22 months, he is so fair skinned that we have to put sunscreen in his hair when we are outside (since he hates hats) so it was just getting too long to be doing that.
