My daughter is 6.75 months old and was exclusively breast/ pumped milk fed until 5.5 months, when she started getting some solids. Now she is on a diet of breast milk, fruits, veggies, yogurt, oatmeal, and rice. She's never had forumla other than an emergency (grandma was babysitting and ran out of breast milk) when she was 4.5 months (she was fine with it.)

I returned to work 5 weeks ago as a teacher and am blessed to have pumping time every day at noon and at 3:45pm. However, I'm finding it increasingly hard to get anything done at work. I have a hands free pump, but by the time I set up (and I do all the preparation before school starts - bottles are screwed in, pump is plugged in etc.) it takes me a good 25- 30 minutes. My planning time at work is very limited, and while I can sit and answer emails and work on lesson plans, I'm finding it hard to keep up with photocopying, keeping the room presentable, etc.

I get 8 oz, sometimes 9, at my noon session, and another 6 or so at 3:45. DD usually drinks it all or leaves about 2 oz at the most. I would REALLY like to eliminate the second pumping session so I can get stuff done. She gets picked up at daycare by her daddy at 3:30pm and usually has her fourth feeding of the day arond 5:30pm. I am sure I can go from noon to 5:30pm, but not sure about getting enough milk for her during the day.

My question is -- will my body adjust and make more milk? Is it possible to get 12-14 oz at lunch? (That's about her average intake at daycare.) Should I give her 8-10 oz of breastmilk at daycare and 4 oz of formula? My child at almost 7 months old has NEVER been sick. Ever. I feel I owe this to breastfeeding and am very wary about formula. Will 4 oz make a difference?

Thanks for your help.

I vote you can drop the session, but not like you think
you will probably have to pump before work or after or sometime in the evening. I have dropped my work sessions to 2 and I pump when I get home (the melons are FULL) and most days I have to pump when he goes to bed or during a nap. However the cards fall for me that day.

I wouldn't do the formula at all, you obviously can make the milk, you just have to find a good time to get it out.
