My elderly grandmother (92) is still recovering from a major surgery she had 3 months ago, and came back from the surgeons office yesterday with the report that her red blood cell count is low. She is on soseveral kinds of over the counter meds, and was talking about looking into a natural herb or remedy to help boost the count up. Granted, I know she's of an advanced age, but to know her you would realize how that surgery has taken out of her. She went from sounding like a 70 yo young to her actual age, like night and day. Does anyone know of a natural herb or supplement (tea maybe?) that has low side affects, low chance of interferring with her current meds, etc? Any help would be great, so I can pass it along to her and from she to her doctor/pharmacist.

since we went through needing to get the red cells up, you know what REALLY worked for my baby..?
Ravioli and spagetti, i dont know if its the pasta sauce or the pasta or what but she would get her blood checked every other day to check her progress form her chemo and well i noticed quickly that once she is low and we feed her ravioli(her fav) and then spagetti, she would eat one for lunch other for dinner, she loves them both and well her hemogloben would just rise up, so i make sure to have these for her even though now she isnt getting chemo anymore(thank god) these really work, get or make your grandmother some of each and just feed her these pastas, hope she starts feeling better soon:hugs:
