My LO is coughing a lot, and it is waking her up. Any tips for helping to soothe a cough? She got a cold about a week ago, and hasn't seemed very sick with it, just a runny nose and a few coughs now and then, but still plenty active, happy, nursing well etc. Just today she has started to cough more and it is interrupting her naps.

I don't want to use any of the regular cough medicines, and I know that honey is supposed to help a cough but that under 1 year you're not supposed to give honey??

Thanks for any ideas.

Vicks on the feet, cover with socks. It's awesome.

Vicks on her feet with socks will help a lot (they make a baby version of vicks), also try steaming up the bathroom and sitting in there with her for 15 - 20 minutes then dress her comfortably and put her to bed, try elevating the head of her bed as well (I just put a big pillow under the mattress). Another tip to try is run a humidifier near her crib (you could even put in a drop or two of eucalyptus EO). Oh, and Johnson and Johnson makes a vapor bath for babies that is wonderful! I put just a little in a cup of HOT water and then put that cup in the bathroom when it's all steamy and the vapors clear up any cough!

I second the Vicks on the feet and then run a vaporizer as well. When DS has a bad cough, we sit w/ DS in a steamy shower, then do the above. It works like a charm.
