View Full Version : How soon have you gotten a bfp with dollar store tests?

On a hunch I took a dollar store test and it's positive! I'm on day 33 of this cycle, however my cycles are generally 5-6 weeks long-- sometimes more. We weren't trying so I have no idea about ovulation. According to a 28- day cycle I'm 4 weeks 5 days, but I think it could easily be a whole week earlier. If not a week and a half. Like I said, I never am "regular." But I'm not sure if I could get a bfp if I were only 3 weeks.

Has anyone gotten a bfp that early with the dollar store test? The line is about halfway dark, but definitely there.

Congratulations!!

I use them all the time. 9dpo is the first obvious BFP, but I've gotten really light lines that I question on 8dpo.

Thanks! I'm still a little bit shocked/nervous/scared-out-of-my-ever-lovin'-mind. :giggle:

I tend to have long cycles (35 days) and ovulate late into them. I would guess that you are a week less than what you would be according to your LMP. Even if you ovulated on day 21, you would be 12 DPO and it is very possible to get a strong positive result.

my last 2 BFPs were 10 and 12 DPO. With my last pregnancy the tests were dollar store tests and they showed BFP. I think with my last I was getting a faint positive at 9 days and I just kept testing every day and by 12 it was definite.

Obvious line at 10DPO with dollar store test. I didn't test at 8 or 9 DPO.

DPO = Days past ovulation. Woman who are temping/charting and such know the they they ovulated. The day after you ovulate is 1 day past ovulation or 1DPO. Generally speaking, your period or AF (Aunt Flo) would arrive on 14dpo. Hope that helps.

I got one at 9 dpo. It was the first day I tested, so I don't know if I would have gotten and earlier one or not.

I'm confused too. When you get a positive at, say, 14 DPO, how many days or weeks pregnant are you? When do you count from?

Also, with the dollar store tests, if you get a negative but it turns out to be wrong, what's generally the MOST pregnant you could have been? I once got pregnant while nursing/no periods, so always wondered how far along I might have been when I got that negative and then three weeks later a BFP.

The '40 week pregnancy' is actually only 38 weeks from ovulation. Week 1 is your period (cycle day 1-7). Week 2 is the week after your period (day 8-14). For the typical 28 day cycle, ovulation will occur around day 14. If you have had sex within the past day or two (or around then), the sperm will be 'waiting' to fertilize your egg. Conception occurs!

(Still pretending we all have the typical 28 day cycle here, lol)... If a woman got a positive pregnancy test the day her period was due, she would be 14 DPO (days past ovulation), and on cycle day 28. She has 'technically' been pregnant for 2 weeks (since conception), but since most people don't know when they ovulate, the easier way to guess gestation is going by your last menstrual period (from cycle day 1). So according to, say, your doctor, on cycle day 28 (the day you get your BFP) you are 4 weeks pregnant.

I hope that made sense!

If you got a negative test, then a positive 3 weeks later, my guess would be that you would be between 4-6 weeks pregnant, possibly 7. It depends on the sesitivity of the test too. If it was a dollar store test (which tests at 25 miu, and is actually pretty sensitive), I'd still guess in the 4-6 week range. I would assume you either 1) Hadn't ovulated at the time you first tested, and were probably around 1.5-2 weeks past ovulation when you tested the second time (making you around 4 weeks pregnant) or 2) Had already conceived but weren't far along enough to test (so we'll say you were 7 dpo when you tested, pregnant for a week but couldn't trigger a BFP... that would be 3 weeks pregnant), then you tested again 3 weeks later, which would make you 6 weeks pregnant.

This is not easy to explain in a condensed form for me! LOL I hope I'm not confusing you, LOL

Umm those are the only test I use and they are awesome. I don't know about my cycle or anything...lol. If my period starts on like the 27th of Aug. then I just figure it will start on the 27th of Sept. (it doesn't matter if one month has more days in it or not....lol...I always just say its coming on the same day, just diff. month) kwim? But anyways I have used those with all three on my preg. and test on the day or the day before I think my period is supposed to come, and they always come back positive IF i am preg. and negative if I am not. ALWAYS

11dpo (which was cd31 for me) with a negative on 9dpo. It was insanely faint but it was there.

I got a faint positive...I'm around 4?5? weeks...I guess. My periods were irregular so, I'm not sure.

I got a definitive + on FRER on 12DPO but tested negative with $Tree for at least a week after that.
