I have a friend on FB who just posted to me that she wanted to CIO with her 3 month old...and then another friend of hers responded "yes do it, I did CIO with my 8 week old and we are much happier"....*GASP* my heart breaks reading that. Does any one have any good articles on why CIO is not a good idea, especially for a 3 month old baby??

THAT'S WAY TO LITTLE!!! I am not anti CIO (no harshness please) but I'm also not totally for it! We did the Ferber Method with our DS at 8mo and even then I revised it a little to my liking. I definitely don't let my son scream for hours at a time! But as his mother I know the difference between his "i don't want to go to bed whine" and "i need mommy cry".. BIG DIFFERENCE! With that said even the Ferber Method doesn't recommend it until 4-6mo and we pushed that to 8-12.
i just went through this with some facebook threads. it ended up just causing hurt feelings because they didn't want to beleive that what they did could harm their kids and were angry at me for posting.

Luckily she is just a friend of a friend who happens to be a facebook friend...so I dont care too much about hurting her feelings...but i was nice about it and shared the links...so hopefully i helped a little
