I recently got a gift box of products that I will never use, I feel they are toxic and no one should be using them. Mainly herbal essesnce shampoo, olay body wash and soap and lotion ,floride tooth paste, mouth wash with dyes and aspertame in it.Anti persperants ( I love how they have a warning on these saying do not use if you have liver problems! wow)

What would you do with them? IMO I don't think anyone should be using these products because of their negative health affects. So I don't feel like donating them but I don't know what to do. They are just taking up space in my house until I figure out something.

i would donate them, i would rather that then send them to the dump. But totally agree that no one should be using them! I tell friends and family not to buy that stuff, so so far so good with not getting bad stuff, especially when I had my DD we told everyone! haha

I donate stuff like that. If I can't/won't use it, there's surely someone else out there who would and would love to get it for free or cheap.

Yep, they will be using that kind anyway whether you give them yours for free or they have to buy it; so donate it! Had a hard time explaining that one to my four year old though; "Right, it has chemicals in it so it's bad for us. But, some people don't care about chemicals so let's give it to them!"

We donate stuff like that to the local missions... I would love to be able to supply them with all safe and organic items, but that's not what the missions can afford to buy, or most people can afford to donate, and most of the people seeking help there are happy to have soap at all... I understand where you are coming from though!

Thanks, I think I will list it on freecycle or donate it to our food shelf.

I would donate it or give it away to someone who'll use it. It's greener than just chucking it because they're going to buy it anyway, so less product is getting wasted.

I would def consider donating it. Those items that are, IYO, toxic, are the types most likely going to be used in a shelter, etc, so I would send them to those places. It is less items purchased, less sent to the landfill, less money those programs have to spend on B&B items, etc. If you just toss in the trash, it's more in the landfill, more toxic chemicals into our water supplies and environment, etc.

Even consider a place like Red Cross or Salvation Army. This time of year, those NPOs actually include soap, shampoo, etc in their xmas boxes to needy families - those families can't afford gifts & food for their family, so they figure they can't afford basic items like soap too. I'm sure someone will be thankful

I have the same thoughts. I give it to people that use it though. I say "Were not using it because it has chemicals in it that I believe are harmful but I know you use thins product so would you like it?" My family is just like "Whatever Megan is being crazy again" But at least the stuff gets used and they were warned.

I mean in a way I feel bad like I should be exposing them to it. But they are just going to use it anyway. ::sigh::

Def donate. someone will get a huge mental health benefit from a shower with soap that will well compensate for the chemicals!
