Curious for those who've given birth in Alaska, how long did it take to receive baby's birth certificate?

We're getting ready to apply for our family's passports, but of course we can't apply for the baby until he's born. Hubby has asked for a drop so we can move to the next duty station before school starts, which would put us leaving here when baby is 2.5-3 months old, and I'm quite concerned we won't be able to get him a passport by then.

I know I can pay for an expedited passport, but even that requires a birth certificate :yuck: so it is looking like everything will hinge on when we receive the BC. I remember it taking a month or two with my other kids, but this will be my first born in AK.

I can't remember exactly but I want to say ours took a month or less.

I don't think it took longer than a month. SSN took a little longer, but not by much. And our passports only took about 2-3 weeks to get.

DD was born in Fbx this August and we had everything within a month (I'm almost positive).

As long as you're traveling within the country you wouldn't need a passport would you?

We have to go through Canada to get to the Lower 48 :goodvibes:

You should have it in plenty of time. It took about 2 weeks to get the BC, but we didn't even fill out the paperwork for a week. Once I filled it out, our MW sent it in, and then we went downtown and picked it up. He was 15 days old when I picked it up ;)

We're stationed in Cordova, but I had my boys in Anchorage. It took about 5 weeks to get their birth certificates.

Enjoy that drive, it's beautiful!

I walked into the Anchorage office and picked mine up. PM me if you want details, but I am sure you can get it quick. They even told me if I would have mailed the info/paperwork to them that I would have received it faster than through the Juneau office.

I went to the office as well - she was less than a month old.
