Ok, so I've decided to start to EC my 7 month old(been thinking about it for while, but work always stopped me). I have been doing part time as of now, and maybe catching a few pees a day. Haven't gotten a poop yet(but she hasn't even pooped in like 3 days anyhow) I just put in my two weeks last week at work. :yay: So once I am home full time so the fun begins. :) I know I should probably invest in that baby bjorn potty or whatnot anything else I should know about? I have been cueing her, and I *think* but not quite sure she is actually getting it (she has gone a few times after I cue her). Anything else I should know? :headscratch: TIA!!
-Another note, I already need to vent. First off my DH thinks I'm crazy but going along with it anyways, but I tell other peope and they just laugh. I told my mother and she bursted out laughing saying that she can't comprehend that yet and went on and on...UGH! :banghead: What should I say to them? I try to tell them about it and all the benefits, but yet no. :banghead: Why are people so close minded?!?!

Def. get a BBLP they are awesome.
And if you haven't already, look at the book "Diaper Free Baby" she has tons of suggestions.
AS for the vent - I didn't tell people I planned to EC my baby, I just did it and then watched them be amazed when I told them he pees or poops in the potty. It's kind of awesome.

It really is hard for other people to comprehend when they've been told their whole lives that "you have to wait til they're ready". If it comes up again, tell them the only reason THEY had to wait was because you were already diaper trained, the un-training is the part that they can't comprehend until around 2.
My mom was one of those people who said "YOU'RE the one who is trained", but when he started signing potty at 5.5 months and held it (sometimes for an hour) but peed immediately when put on the potty, she realized it was definitely him too.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll both do great!

One thing that helped me was to talk to my grandmother about it (she's 85). Of course back then, babies were out of diapers by 12 months – so if you have anyone from that generation in your life, they'll probably be REALLY supportive! One thing I say to skeptical people is that I'm "just doing it the way our grandmothers did." They can't argue with that! My own mom was out of diapers at 9 months and had a highchair/potty that she went on!
