Now I am VERY picky about goes to my main e-mail, for the simple face I hate spam mail. Now Facebook is one of the few things linked to that email. Well this morning I got an e-mail saying $4k was being deducted via eCheck from my Paypal. Which I logged on my account & called them instantly. They are in the process of reversing it, but the only thing I did was allow one of those DUMB applications a few hours before it all broke loose.
Thankfully gmail allows you to see IP addresses of who is logged into your account, and I had to manually block this person, they were deleting email's from my account RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES! This person had easy access to any information needed to request passwords through old emails, etc.
But I'm in just total disbelief. Is there any other possible thing going around that I need to check on? Like any specific sites/applications/games, etc?
I really am VERY VERY good about this, as I've never had an issue like this.
I know there is a no outing rule - but am I allowed to post the name of the application as well as the person's name / e-mail address since this is 1000% fraud & illegal? I would hate for others to have to deal with this JUNK!!!

I don't think you can post names, but I don't see any harm in posting the name of the app...a mod could give a more accurate response though. So sorry this happened, but I'm glad it's being taken care of ASAP

I would certainly think you should contact Facebook about that if you're sure it somehow came from an app!

Sorry that happened. THIS is why I don't do any applications in facebook. People say that I'm paranoid but I don't care.

Well the application was called "Photo of the Day" but when I went into my application list - it was listed as 'Photo of the Day Ponzi Inc"... Now that screams scam! I cannot believe I didn't look into it better.

I simply don't allow ANY apps, period. Even when I get updates like "so-and-so has answered a question about you, read the answer (allow this app)"

I have quit allowing any apps because I heard they could do all kinds of thing to your computer. I also have a "real " email account for important things and a junk email account
Hope every thing gets fixed soon!

Well as of now, Paypal as 100% eliminated the transaction - I googled the person's name & it came up on a Money Exchange site where this person brags about stealing money & jokes about might having to "pay from my own wallet". Its so sickening. I cannot believe people cannot bring themselves to get an HONEST job & earn their money the proper way.

Yep, I don't allow any apps anymore either. We use Linux so I am not as worried about viruses, but some of the apps look so sketchy.

So Paypal is sending me a Security Key for free, I never knew they had these or I would have paid the $5 for one a long time ago - it pretty much makes my account impossible to get into unless you have the key card & my cell phone!!!! I'm so excited!!

Yes, its about the size of a CC & it sends you a code good for about 20 mins, if you don't log in, it expires! There is NO WAY anyone can get into your account unless they have it!! I believe you need a cell phone because they text the code to you, maybe it goes to email, but the man didn't explain it TOO well, but thats the jist of it.
