DD is 22 months old. she's always just nursed on one breast at a time. but within the past week or so she's started switching breasts and telling me which breast she wants. (she usually favors my right breast, now she wants my left breast)
she's also wanting to nurse ALOT! i don't always hear her swallowing. only when it's been a while since she last nursed. she will nurse on one breast for a minute or two then switch to the other then she's done. sometimes she'll go back to the first breast for a minute. she's not staying on long enough for a letdown.
anyone have any idea what could be going on? i'm not on any hormones so that's not the cause. when i do letdown i hear he swallowing for a good 2-3 minutes.

My DD is 20 months and does this ALL OF THE TIME. :banghead:
She just switches back and forth and back and forth constantly. I don't know if she switches when the milk flow starts to lessen on one side or what, but it get pretty annoying. Maybe she just gets inpatient waiting for my milk to letdown. I don't know. :headscratch:
Of course, I'm not doing anything about it, so I must not care too much...
:hugs: I know what you're going through.

Yeah I've read about this a lot. I think it must be a normal thing!! WTG on getting this far. I'm only at 17 months with my own set of troubles!! Good job, I hope we get this far!

He did this a LOT, over Christmas I was at my Moms and I just weaned him during the day. Now when he nurses (at night and occasionally during the day) he gets down to it, switches once and then he is done. He was just doing it a lot for comfort and playing. Plus he has eating issues where he doesn't like to eat a lot and since I weaned during the day (maybe coincidence) he has really started to eat at least a little bit more.

My DS does this too! He has been for a month or so now, since I cut out most of our daytime nursing. He is 15 months old. He also insists that I open up "both sides" for him so that he can switch back and forth or else he refuses to nurse and just screams and hits me. I want to keep nursing as long as possible since we are adopting. I want to keep my milk suppy so that I can nurse the baby, and I still want that bond with DS. But the screaming and having to totally expose myself when ever he wants to nurse is getting old. :banghead:
I am praying it is just a phase and he will get over it soon. Or else I am going to wean him and just start to pump while we wait for the new little one.

Ugh, my 21 month old has been doing this for several months now. She also requires that both of them be exposed or she will scream bloody murder. I have no idea why she is doing this, but I am going to start to wean her soon anyway b/c I would like my body back after almost 2 years of this.
