Have any of you ladies been receiving Similac samples in the mail?

I got some today and I am completely livid. I suspect that they got my information from my OB, as he is the ONLY person who knows I am pregnant and they went to my old address. My mother in law lives in that house now and I haven't been to see my OB since we moved. So today she calls and asks why I'm getting formula samples and I swear my heart stopped for a minute.

I could NOT believe it. We haven't told her yet and this is how she finds out? I am so mad.

Does anyone know anything about this? Could there be any other way for them to find out I'm pregnant?

I got one too...I think it might be from some type of magazine or even possibly a website, they might trace names to get addresses to send them too. I can't believe it would be OB's.

very likely your OB... they are notorious for this kinda stuff... I am a bf'ing Mama And I got SO much with my first, I made sure to take all precautions not to get it the second time... I donated what I got the first time (fyi)

I would imagine that it could have been the OB because as soon as I begin prenatal care every baby magazine and such the likes starts hitting my mail. The thing about Similac is that they will send cpn checks for formula, I never cashed them in and the checks kept getting bigger and bigger and more frequently. Grr that would upset me to no end that my MIL would find out like that.

Waaayyyy before I was pregnant, I bought the Johnson's baby bedtime lotion for myself because I like the way it smells....well I used my shopper's card because I made the purchase at the grocery store with a bunch of other stuff. And now every time it prints off coupons at the checkout for me, they're ALWAYS for formula. They're relentless!!! And evil!!! :banghead:

...BTW I'm very sorry that the family learned about your surprise in a not-so-fun way. I'd be disappointed and upset, too.

I bet it was the OB, too. After I took the birth class at the hospital, that's when I started getting all sorts of stuff in the mail.I'm sorry your family found out that way, that bites. :(

Thanks mamas. I'm still pretty annoyed but I've decided to let it roll. This is our last baby so I want my pregnancy to be as peaceful as possible. I said in another thread that I don't want to be known in the office as "that mom who flipped out about formula coupons." I mean, that's obviously not what I'm upset about, but its a small office and they remember stuff like that. Offending them would only serve to disrupt the energy next time I go in for a visit.

Plus, if I switched OBs over this, I can only imagine what crazy shenanigans the next one might be up to. My MIL hasn't been too pushy about it. Seems like she's going to let us tell her in our own time, which is sweet. So I'm going to keep it all positive.

But thanks for all the input. It's good to know that at least I'm not imagining things. I haven't bought anything or registered anywhere so I couldn't see any other possibility but the OB's office signing me up for it. Hopefully it at least gets them in good with Abbott Labs (who makes Similac) and they get some new equipment out of the deal.

Glad all is well mama. I feel you about wanting to maintain a peaceful pregnancy!! I dont think ob mean to do it, I think they think its innocent and who would not want a free sample.
