Seasonal Art, Stories, Books, Crafts, Songs, Snacks & Poetry for PreK & Kindy…Ideas?

I want to “study” the seasons with my preschooler and kindergartener through experiences (art, stories, books, crafts, songs, poetry, food, etc). I don’t really want color, cut, paste-type crafts…I’m having a hard time describing what I’m looking for...maybe “natural”/festival/celebrate the season type things…LOL…does any of that make sense??

I’d love book recommendations, websites, pre-planned curriculums that include these things, or any other ideas that would head us in this direction… I'm looking to plan all 4 seasons.

Any ideas???

Thanks mamas
!

A lot of Waldorf material is based on the seasons, so I would start my search there if I were you!

Wee Folk Art http://weefolkart.com/content/homesc...mpanion-guides
New Child has seasonal guides too. http://www.newchildmontessori.com/
Seasons of Joy http://ourseasonsofjoy.com/seasons-of-joy-store/
Little Acorn Learning http://littleacornlearning.com/

Some of the Williams Little Hands book series has activities not based in cutting/pasting that are divided by season.

Added: Charlotte Mason incorporates nature studies into her methodology, and so besides formal science investigating the natural world/identifying local flora and fauna, etc spending hours outside is an important part in many curricula inspired by her philosophy, as well as reading a lot of books.

As a pp said, Waldorf uses a ton of nature based activities.

The curriculum I use has themes which mostly work with the seasons, but not necessarily intended to follow them. Like next month there's a fall and a Halloween theme (which I intend to turn into a bugs/Arachnids/night creatures theme), and December includes world holidays and Christmas themes.

I have this book at home that is exactly what your looking for but I can't remember the name exactly. I'll look when we get home sometime next week and I'll let you know what it is. I'm thinking its day by day pre-k.

www.weefolkart.com has a spring, summer, winter, and fall curriculum for prek and kinder (if you add in math, reading, and handwriting). It's very gentle and really lovely! It has books, crafts, cooking, field trips, and art. I love it!

And it's FREE!
