Tea Tree Oil and BFing

Would it be ok to use Dr Bronner's Tea Tree Soap and Breastfeed (not at the same time mind you :giggle:? what about lavender oil?

I know straight tea tree oil should be avoided, but I didn't know if it would be ok mixed in stuff...like lotions or soaps.

I have even avoided putting it in my wipes solution.

Why should regular tea tree oil be avoided?

Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum, so please excuse typos!

Re: Tea Tree Oil and BFing

Most articles I have read has said to avoid tea tree oil while pregnant or breastfeeding, because it can be so easily absorbed.

Hmm interesting... I'm constantly in tea tree oil the whole time I was pg and now that I'm nursing also. I work at sportclips. And we have tea tree shampoos and put the oil in our steam towels... And tons of the women I work with have been pg and nursing while working there and constantly in contact with it. Why would it affect anything because your body absorbs it?

I use them both on me/kids i would however avoid any peppermint oil...as it can dry you up quickly from what i have read. I have used it a few times...but not since i read about drying up milk. there usually is another oil i can use in place of it :goodvibes:
