Home birth anyone?
Winding down in my last few months but would love a home birth since this may be my last shot . I'm wondering if anyone on Oahu has had one, how their experience was and who they worked with. My biggest fear is the cost / upfront cost-- anyone knows how it compares to a hospital delivery?

Re: Home birth anyone?
I have had both a hospital and a homebirth.. 16 years apart.. I have to say that the homebirth was faster, easier, more relaxed, and no interventions. My cousin delivered her 2 babys in a hospital when she lived in EWA but since has had homebirths (back on the main land) because those 2 births were too scary.

Hmm thanks ! I'm super curious about the cost- your cousin is lucky since we r lacking lots of those resources

The two women I know have had home births here on Oahu have used Dr. Lori http://www.hawaiichildbirthprofessio.../midwives.html. Both had great births and healthy baby boys. The cost wasn't prohibitive.

Re: Home birth anyone?
I was blessed with a wonderful homebirth. First baby, two hours, no tearing or anything. My husband caught the baby. I would really recommend going for a homebirth. It`s a wonderful experience , no need for drugs and painkillers, our bodies have enormous abilities.
The cost for the birth was 3.300$ which is quiet a bit! But it was worth it. The midwife helped so much and was prepared for every emergency. I don`t know the exact costs for the hospital. I don`t have insurance abd therefore it would have been much more expensive. I`m on Maui but I`m sure there are great midwives on Oahu too. Good luck.

Re: Home birth anyone?
I just delivered baby number 3 (2nd home birth) at home in kailua in August with dr. Madeleine of sacred healing arts. It cost about 3000 total, definitely worth it. Pm me if you have any more questions - I'd be happy to chat! :)
