Sewing Momma Cloth?

Any tips? What are your favorite fabrics/materials? Has anyone used Alipix as a closure? PUL or no PUL?

I don't make my own but... I wouldn't use aplix because I'd be concerned about it scratching... and I wouldn't use pul as it doesn't breathe as well as fleece

I like using snaps for mine. I LOVE using pul for mine. I think it breathes just fine, and it allows for the pad to be thinner.

I have never seen any with Aplix. I also HATE pul, its hot and sweaty for me, LOVE fleece lined, still not too thick and no leaks. I'd like to try a wool backed pad :)

I like snaps, and prefer to use fleece. PUL is trimmer, but it's hot, and it's more difficult to sew up since it's slippery.

Interesting. Is there a certain kind of fleece I need to buy for it to be waterproof of will any fleece do? I will probably find fleece to be too hot as well. I've never owned momma cloth bc I'm not quite ready for the investment, but I'm so ready to try it when my flow comes back so I'm sure this will be a lot of trial and error. I'm just hoping to cut out as much of the error as possible.
Sounds like I will need a snap press. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive one that works well? I've never looked into getting one, but heard they were expeeensive!

Thanks ladies!

I use fleece. I try to use micro fleece but end up end using the fleece from joanns. I use minky or flannel, terry cloth and the fleece. I am a heavy soaker so I use 3 layers of flannel, 3 layers of terry and one layer of fleece for my heavy days. It isn't as bulky as it sounds. I have never members through. I only use 2 flannel, one terry, and one fleece for light

Pul makes me sweat. Lots of people use blizzard fleece on the back. I'd look at kam snaps for snap pliers...is you're just making mc you wouldn't need a big press, just the pliers. They have special offers on them quite a bit and their snaps are the best.

Thank you for this thread Mozartswannabe - as I have had the same question. Everyones guidance on materials and snaps/buttons is invaluable.
