What should I feed my son...
to get rid of loose stools? Since the flu made its way through our house, we've been struggling with DS (2 yrs old) stools and it has been several weeks.

We cut out most dairy, but now we are cutting it out completely for this next week. He's drinking rice milk for the time being. What foods do you suggest giving to help the situation?

Probiotics. We do ours in applesauce. GI recommended Florastor when DS had c diff, so that is our go-to probiotic.

I would cut out all juice if he is getting any, and try to up fiber as much as you can with a little one. I'd also give your ped a call and just talk to the nurse since its been going on this long.

Bananas. Our doc has always told us to stay away from bananas for my kids who have constipation problems.

Grapes, blueberries and cherries all usually help move bowels so you might want to limit those until he gets more regular again.

Wouldn't the BRAT diet help with that? (bananas, rice, applesauce/apples, toast) At least the bananas and rice, anyways.
I second the probiotic idea - and applesauce is a good concealer :)

A good probiotic.

Brat, oat meal works well, crackers, definitely limit sugary foods and drinks.

Unless he has a problem with dairy, cutting it out isn't going to change his bowel movements. I know in my kids, it binds them up when they have too much (the ones that are sensitive to it, anyway).

I was going to suggest probiotics, as well. We get ours through kefir or yogurt (kefir more commonly).
