Need Toddler Shoe Help!!! Double Wide Feet :(

DD just started walking, and since we spend a lot of time outside (and the weather has been variable) I decided to take her to buy some shoes!

We tried ordering Robeez several weeks ago, but size SM is the perfect length, but WAY too tight. Size MD is waaayyy too long.

So, we brought her to a store that sells Stride Rite today. They only had ONE pair of shoes that fit her - 4 2W! Of course, it has to be a shoe that I really don't like. It's bright white and kind of on the clunky side.

I know that there are many different shoes that I can buy online, but I hate ordering the wrong size and sending it back, then doing the same thing 12 times over.

Anyway, does anyone know of ANY baby shoe brand that has a similar size? I don't even care how much it costs. These shoes were $40 - if I'm going to spend that kind of money on shoes, I at least want them to be cute. LOL

She didn't really wear the shoes long, just for a couple minutes in the store and a couple minutes at home before I decided to put them back in the box and hang onto them just in case I find something better.

Any suggestions? I feel totally lost!

My DSs are in the same boat. I found that Crocs (we love the croclings here because they don't fall off) work well for us. Other than that we do Stride Rite too.

Livie & Luca or See Kai Run.
My son has bricks for feet too. He wears Crocs in the summer. Bricks! Like my DC kids did stepping stones for Mom's Day gifts with their footprints, my son had the fattest chunkiest footprint I've ever seen! It was funny!

I second checking out Stride Right, just look online and see if they have a wider selection there. I still can't justify spending money on shoes for me, but for my kids, they have to have to best for proper foot development. Stride Rite does make a good quality shoe.

my son had WW feet when he first started walking as well. we had a couple pairs of strede rites, thats all that would fit. you can go online, or to specialty stores and get dfferent styles. they get pricey though

Thanks for all the suggestions, mamas! I'm going to have to start looking into all of those.

Question: On the Stride Rite website, they have shoes in varying widths. M, W, XW, etc. I'm assuming that W is regular "wide" and XW would be the same as double wide? The box we bought says "2W" on the label.

I think they're just trying to confuse me! LOL

The website has LOTS of selection ins XW! I just don't want to order it and find out that it's too small. I have very limited opportunities to get out to the post office to send things back!

Argh, nevermind. I just called Stride Rite and they said that XXW is the same as 2W... there's not much in that size at all. :(

That's odd, did they say what the XW means if it's not the 2W? I'm just :headscratch: over that.

My son wore XXW shoes and the selection is very limited. He is almost 6 now and still has extra wide feet (and he's average height and weight) and we still have trouble finding shoes that fit him. Most of the styles the other kids wear don't come in his size :( .
