Dirt Dauber?

I was wondering if anybody else had heard of, or tried this..

It was actually my mother who told me to use it and I swear I thought she was batty.

But you take a dirt dauber nest (and old one) and clean it out and grind it up into a find powder. You can then just use a little bit at a time at each diaper change with a diaper rash and it will be better in no time. It's fixed some rashes overnight.

I've been trying to figure out exactly WHY this works.

Does anybody know?

Has anybody else used this???

I did Google it in attempt to find out the science behind it.. or what made people think hmm I bet THAT would be good diaper cream..

It works.. I don't get it, but I swear it works.. Now I am hunting down dirt dauber nest!

I'm thinking it's because they use clay to build their nests and clay has many therapeutic uses for the skin

Maybe that is it.. It instantly soothes the pain of my son's rash... He goes from a screaming fit to calm and okay.

Really? Would it also work from wasps? I may have to try that, but we don't have hardly any rashes anymore. Wonder what else it would work on?

Dirt wasps maybe, but not paper. If its the clay that's helping.

Well, I mean, dirt daubers are wasps :) thread-waisted wasps.

But they are called such for their nest building material.

Re: Dirt Dauber?

that sounds really weird but I bet it is the clay. Instead of hunting down mud dauber nests I would just use some bentonite clay or something like that. I already have some because we use it for brushing teeth. It also draws out infection in stuff too. But the bentonite clay that I buy is clean. I wouldn't trust how clean the mud daubers nests are. Plus how do I know for sure if the nests are empty. I don't really want to get stung. It's much easier to buy some clay and mix it yourself and use it.

When there are holes in it, its empty.
