Adenoid Removal for 3 Year Old - How was it??

My three year old has always been a sick kid, nasal sounding, mouth breather. Poor guy!!!!

I finally got into the ENT and not to my surprise at all he has HUGE adenoids. His tonsils look great - petite in fact - so the doctor will not be removing them.

The doctor told me the adenoids are easier than the tonsils because not a lot of blood flow to the adenoids v. tonsils. He will also have tubes put in his ears because of his amount of infections and constant fluid.

Just wondering how your little ones did?? Our appointment was made months ago, but he is finally having the surgery towards the end of this month. So I'm starting to get a little nervous.

Thanks!!!

Also what is the chance I will go into labor the day he has his surgery!!! :roflmbo:

I had mine out at 6 or 7. No big deal -- sore throat, lots of ice cream. <g>

Yep - my brother and sister both had their adenoids removed as kids (my sister had her tonsils too - part of the reason I suspected it was the adenoids since it isn't common to remove them nowadays).

But just wondering about the mama perspective on things.

just be prepared in case they don't feel good and get super fussy...be prepared to pour on the love. Also, my DS1 had it at 22 months and did okay but a friend of mine had her daughter done at 2 i think, maybe 3, i can't remember how old she is. and She wouldn't take her meds, drink or anything and she's going on her 5th day in the hospital. not to scare you but just try and do everything they tell you too.

Mine also had tonsils and tubes done with his adenoids and he was fine. Was VERY irate coming out of anesthesia (sp?) but eventually calmed down

DD had them done a few months before 3 and she was fine. She got a cold the day after and was more miserable from it than the surgery.
