I agree with others see if you can get it checked out. I wanted to share my story:

My son stared alot when he was a baby and he also didn't respond to noises. We found out due to a fluid not draining in his ears that had effected his hearing. He got the tubes to fix that problem at age 2 but still would stare occassionally....I didn't think anything of it. Then we went to a neurologist for further developmental testing and I was totally shocked at the results we got at age 3, absence seizures. I was so glad I didn't cancel the test because I wouldn't of known. From what I understand thus far absence seizures are not threating nor do they do damage (it may lead to learning disabilities later or the kid can get hurt if one occurs during an activity like on the playground etc) They typically only last for seconds and the kid doesn't realize they've had one or are going to have one. I've been having a hard time figuring out when it occurs in my son.

But definately if there is any concern bring it up to doc and don't hesitate to ask for a refferal to a specialist....pediatric neurologist is who'd you want to see.

Good luck.

you cannot stop a seizure. So when she does it clap your hands about 2 feet in front of her. the motion/sound combo will "snap her out of it" if its "nothing" if there is no response then touch her and if there isn't an immediate response you will want to ask for a neuro appt just to be safe.

there was no immediate response when I did it thats why I worried. I kept calling her name and what not and nothing. Then about 10 -20 seconds later she stopped starring and started crying

A friends son did just that. When he was nearly 1 it started and they found out it was seizures. It was kind of hard to get the doctors to figure it out because it was so very random. I say get her in asap.
