why are people always telling me that boys are "easier" than girls?

i have 3 boys- ages 3.5, 2.5 and 5 months. I constantly get comments from strangers, relatives, friends, etc. that "boys are so much easier than girls". I always just nod and smile, but why do people think this? in my experience, my boys are much rowdier, more active, higher energy, less under control than any little girls their age. maybe it's because i have all boys that I don't see them as "easy" by any means...I don't know. I guess I just wondered if anyone else gets these comments and how it makes you feel. I have never thought of being a stay at home mom to my 3 little guys as anything even closely resembling an "easy" job.

Trust me, they aren't easier than girls. Different, not easier. I only have one DD, and she's pretty easy going, but from taking care of friend's kids, I know they're not easier.

I'm not quite sure why people would say that either?? I only have one boy right now, but I've been contemplating the difference between having boys or girls and I think it really depends on the stage they are in. I think as toddlers boys are probably more difficult because they are rough and tough guys :giggle: , but then when you reach adolescence - yikes, I remember what I was like as a teenager... But now that I have a family of my own, I see how much closer I am with my mom now, and how my DH doesn't have that with my MIL, KWIM? So someday all the mommy's of boys will be the dreaded MILs.

I'm not sure. I only have a 3 yo DD and I've always though to myself "man, if she was a boy I could never keep up!" Since boys seem even more high energy than girls. If my girl had any more energy I think I'd just pass out in the floor trying to keep up with her!

I have no idea, people are crazy..lol
My boys are crazy and my dd is so calm and sweet..haha
It is definitely different but I don't feel one is easier than the other gender.

Heehee I think that neither are easy...but I have to agree that in our case my DD is much harder to handle than my DS. Roudiness I can handle. Whining, manipulation, and just plain sneakiness drive me INSANE!

My DS is about 230498345times easier than my DD! lol

It just depends on the kids, though - not the gender! After my experiences workign in daycare, I know that boys can be REALLY tough! Especially when you have several together!

For me, boys are easier. My dd is the easiest dd there could ever be, but overall boys are just all out there and don't require the emotional energy from me. I am not an emotional person on the whole so it is much harder for me to relate to people who are quite emotional and dramatic. My boys are much easier on me even though they are constantly moving and quite loud. If we didn't have 3acres to let them run and climb then maybe I would think differently.

I love boys!
To me, they are tons easier to read than girls.
They are usually more inclusive during play, it always seems that the girls exclude.
I love the rowdiness, the mess, the noise, the living life to the fullest every second!
But I was the only girl in my whole family. There hasn't been a girl born in our family for 47 years(besides me 35 years ago) and counting. So girls to me are like another world. I'm sortof a tomboy. I "get" boys. I don't "get" girls.
We stopped at the two kids we have because I was afraid the third time I would get a girl.
But then I'd just have to send her back!
LOL!
I have a fear of having a girl, can you tell?

My daughter was way easier as a baby and toddler, but she's 6 now and is starting to get really melodramatic and whiny. I'd still say she's easier than my son, though. He is VERY active and doesn't need much sleep (so I don't get enough), plus he's super stubborn. I think personality-wise he's more like me, so we butt heads more often. He's only 3, though, so maybe it will get easier as he gets older.
