Flannel and/or terry are good. No solution necessary really. For the most part we use warm water. After poops if something else is needed or out of the house a solution of water, a little Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild and a little coconut oil works really well for us.

i made my wipes out of flannel. i didn't hem the edges, just zigzag stitch around the edge. they frayed for a bit and i just cut the loose strings. they don't fray anymore. it was worth it to me to do it that way because it saved so much time on sewing.

i don't make a solution. i just use water. i haven't had the time to try making any. (i have 18m old twins) but here is a website that has instructions. (zany-zebra.com)

I'm making my own cloth wipes this weekend for the first time! I plan on making mine out of my DS receiving blankets that we never use :)

I plan on using flannel on one side and terry cloth on the other.

The only advise I have is that if you make your own solution, make sure it's compatible to wash with your cloth diapers! i made that mistake when I first CDed my son.

I also made some wipes out of old receiving blankets. Worked fine. Many people just use baby wash cloths too.

Flannel, velour is so soft. bamboo fleece, baby loop are also good.

I am wondering the same thing, right now we are EFB but how gross do the wipes get when toddler poop starts?

What solution wasn't compatible with your wash?

I tear up old receiving blankets and zig zag stitch them. I use the little squirt bottle they gave me in the hospital to wet the wipes with water before use. When I change poopy diapers the first wipe is with the diaper as I am folding it down so the upper front part which is usually clean gets the big poopy pieces left on baby's bottom so there is not much to wipe up with the wipes. The diaper gets it's spray.

I never thought of that! Ive never done the "diaper sweep" like you do with sposies with a cloth!! But it totally makes sense. I used my cloth wipes today for the first time & had a gnarly poopy & I ended up using 3 wipes & had to spray off 2 of them :/
