Longer with second pregnancy?

I was sure this had been asked before but I can't seem to find it. :headscratch:

I'm wondering if anyone here has gone longer with their second pregnancy than with their first (or any consecutive pregnancies). My DD was born at 35w4d (I went into labor naturally, no complications) and I just did a little calculating. If baby #2 is, by some coincidence, born at the exact same gestational age I will be in labor on Christmas Day. And even if she isn't born that day, I'm wondering what the chances are that things will be under way - or even over - by then.

I've heard that most second babies come earlier than the first and I definitely don't mind the idea of having her here by Christmas but I'm wondering how true that generally holds....

I'll make a poll since I can't find the other, but feel free to link me to the old thread if it exists.

my #1 was 2 weeks past due date, #2 was closer to 4 weeks (why they let me go so long I will never understand- she was born with gallstones) #3 was a c section 1 week after due date... here's to hoping you aren't in labor for Christmas.. and hoping I can stay under the 40 weeks with #4 :)

Yeah, I really don't want to be in the hospital on Christmas Day. Something tells me no one - especially my doctor - would be too happy with that.

I know that statisically, the median gestation for first babies is 41+1, and for second is 40+4 (or something like that?).

I had a friend that had her daughter a month early. Her second child ended up coming only a few days before his due date, so don't worry too much about it! :)

First was 39 days to the day (and only by 4 hours - otherwise she would have been 38w6d). My second was 40w3d. Ugh. The last week with my second seriously killed me. I LOVED going early with my first. LOVED LOVED LOVED it!

Interesting to note - both kids were born before any company arrived in town to meet them. I just have this thing about not wanting to labor with out-of-town guests here (not here in my house, but here, in town). I wanted to have a few days to ourselves to enjoy the new baby and the new family dynamic before people started piling in wanting to hold the new LO.

DD and DS were both born 4 or 5 days before anyone arrived.

I think part of it is psychological and how you feel about the timing of your birth, etc.

Both DD1 & DD2 were born at 37+1. I'm currently 37+2 with this pregnancy.

My second daughter was born (spontaneously) at 35w 5d.

My third daughter was born at 41w 3d.

The spread wasn't bad, except for my mother annoying the living crap out of me by calling every single day for a month to ask if I'd had the baby yet. Got to where I didn't answer when it was her calling. ;)
