I think there may be a couple of sellers on ebay who sell something similar to the Amby, but other than that, I don't know of anything else than the Amby. Maybe some other mamas know of others?

I don't have any personal experience with it though...

I wish I had gotten an Amby, I almost did, but it was so expensive. Now I really think she would sleep better in it. She loves sleeping in the sling, I just can't hold her for every nap!

Re: Tell Me About Baby Hammocks....
I have the happyhangup and I love it. I actually found mine at the thrift store of all places! My ds liked to nap in it when he was younger and now loves to swing/bounce in it. It is very well made and looks really neat hanging in our livingroom from an eye bolt in the ceiling. It is very light and would be easily packed away or traveled with. The lady who donated it swore by it and only donated it because all her kids had grown out of it. She told the thrift store people she used it like a crib for her kids but there hardly seems any wear on it at all.

My best friend has an Amby. I love her amby too. Although it is MUCH bigger and heavier than my happyhangup my DS still loves to nap in it. It is very well made too. Although heavy it is very easy to set up or pack away. My ds hates his packandplay and my DF has offered to lend me her Amby for a travel bed for a road trip in July. Yea!

I wished I had bought one of these when DS was born instead of a cradle swing. DS loved his cradle swing but he grew out of it so fast and the motors don't seem to last that long. Besides who knows how many batteries I killed in that swing.:banghead:

I have an Amby and I love love love it! I wish I had known about them with my 1st dd! I got mine gently used off ebay and I think I paid $208 including shipping. I think new they are $225 plus shipping. Mine was in like new condition and included the travel bag. It took dd a little while to get used to the Amby. The first few days or week home from the hospital she didn't sleep well in it, but looking back I think if I had used it then like I use it now she would have liked it more. After a week or two, she would sleep in it just fine and would sleep about 4-5 hours or so for the first stretch and 3 hours or so for each stretch after that.

THEN, I discovered something called the miracle blanket (you probably see ads for it at the top of the ds page sometimes). I got mine again gently used off ebay. The combination of the blanket and the Amby was unbelievable, after using the blanket for a few days or a week, she started sleeping 7-10 hours at a time every night. No fussing, no crying. She is a houdini, and could squirm her way out of any wrap I did, although I do a pretty good baby taquito. So, when the blanket kept her arms in, she quit waking herself up with her hands.

OK, back to the Amby. We really love it. Did I say that already? I can put dd in it fully awake and I bounce/swing her gently for about 5-15 minutes and she is totally out. Not much fussing either, she is a baby that seems to need to fuss before going to sleep for a little bit whether she is in bed with us, being held, rocked, bouced, swung, you name it. She really gave us a run for our money until we figured this out. She is very comfortable in it. In the last few weeks, she has decided she doesn't really want to be wrapped up anymore. She struggled when I put her in the M Blanket and would get her arms out anyway, so I started just wrapping her regularly in a very thin knit blanket so she can get her arms out quickly and still be wrapped. Of course now she is not sleeping through the night anymore like she was, but it's not too bad. Now the first stretch is anywhere from 4-6 hours and about every 3 after that again, so only 2 or 3 times a night. Am I disappointed? Sure, a little bit. We all want sleep!! But would I change it, absolutely not! Before this I thought it was a myth that babies can sleep through the night at that age, and I got to sleep all night for about two months! You just can't beat it!!

So, back to the Amby again (sorry, my Mom brain wanders). I also love that it travels easily, and we have taken it apart and used it twice when we went to Houston in the last couple months. We are leaving again this weekend for 2 wks in Dallas and will take it with us there and again to NY for 2 weeks in July. Also, because of the way the base is made, it is easy for me to move it around the house, which is important for us because dh works shifts and so I have to put it in dd#1s bedroom to get the girls to sleep and then move it to our bedroom once dh wakes up. It works quite well. I will try to attach some pictures so you can see it in action, but they are old and when dd was younger. Good luck!!

Re: Tell Me About Baby Hammocks....
Thanks so much for all your help momma. My last dd was/is a HORRIBLE sleeper and we had to do CIO  I so want to avoid it with this next one so I thought maybe these would do that trick! Now to decide which one...:headscratch: :giggle:
