Extended cycle, anyone else?
Love this new forum!

I'm on an extended cycle BC, 4 periods a year. I have had spotting and even full blown af midcycle almost every month so far. :banghead: Just wondering if anyone else has experience with it and if it gets better?
I got migraines with my period which is the main reason for the extended cycle, but now I'm on a migraine preventative so it's not really so important anymore to have less periods. I've thought of switching back to a regular pill or something else but if it gets better I'd like to stick it out I guess. My Dr just keeps saying 'let's see what happens' :banghead: It's been like 6 months.

Re: Extended cycle, anyone else?
I hate the "lets see" talk. I hardly have periods on the pill but anything else I take and I get heavy periods like normal. IF I were you, I get migrains with AF too, I would go to the regular pill since your AF isn't that big of a deal anymore. I would think that after 6 months if it isn't working then it isn't going to work. Do they have a stronger dose that might work for you?

I'm not sure about a higher dose. But she said the option is to try estrogen to make the spotting stop? I really do not want to do that! She has really tried to convince me to get an IUD but I've just heard too many negative things :-/

Re: Extended cycle, anyone else?
I tried the mirena and had it removed after a week because I had a bad headache every day on it. Not to mention I felt the strings with every movement. But that might not happen to you. I have heard that IUD's can cause more spotting than the pill so that might not work for spotting. Sucks. I think I would go with the regular pill first and see how my body did on that. But that's me not you ;) You have some thinking to do on this...good luck!

Yea also when I was pg with DS I was told briefly I have a heart shaped uterus which I've read doesn't work with iud's. Think I'll wait until the end of this cycle to change if that's my best option :-/
