Homemade Yogurt flavoring question??

I'm going to attempt to make some homemade yogurt this week. DD loves it, and I can't afford to buy her the Gerber brand like I had been! My husband is also begging for it...and well, it's just to pricey!! Neither one of them will eat plain yogurt, so I'm wondering how to flavor it?? DD loves strawberry and peach, hubby just wants a flavor other than plain.... I didn't know if I could get fruit and blend it after the yogurt sets up? I read somewhere that tends to make it watery?

TIA!

I make my own and I flavor it with preserves. The kids love it! My kids also really love yogurt with butternut squash or pumpkin puree mixed in (plus a tiny bit of sugar too). My 4yo and my 2yo ask for squash yogurt as a meal frequently.

You just mix it in after the yogurt is set up?

I use some of my homemade freezer jam. It is very yummy. Any kind of jam would do. I mix it in at the time of serving.

Mix the preserves or fruit in when you are serving it. If you mix it in advance it will get watery.

The benefit of doing this too is that it allows you to change each bowl and you aren't stuck with a bunch of one flavor.

We like adding concentrated liquid stevia drops (vanilla flavor) to our yogurt and adding fresh fruit on top.

I puree fruit with some sugar, then pour it into ice cube trays to freeze... keep the cubes in a freezer bag so we can pull out as many as we like to thaw and add to the plain yogurt.

I use preserves too, or syrups I make (elderberry, strawberry). Add in when serving.
