Recommendation of Behavior Books for 16M Daughter
My daughter is 16M and I am seeing alot of Little Miss Independent in her. Such as, wanting to be put down often and not held or just running off on her own w/out holding mamas hand and how 'bout think after 8hrs at daycare, does she come running to me...nope, turns the other way. It just breaks my heart.

I am not spanking, being a new mom, I just don't know if i want to introduce hitting and violance all together. But then I wonder, is that right? I mean I am a first time Mom and new at this whole thing, may thats not right.

I want to correct her behavior and thought I should read up on this. Any recommendations or advice?

I think for a general book (when you aren't facing a specific issue) Dr. Sears "The Discipline Book" is great! A great starting point. You can also check out and I'm sure you'll get lots of good info. there too.

We are non-spankers- we practice gentle discipline (reasoning & AP understanding- we don't even do time-outs). It works great with our son- if he knows we are disappointed it's punnishment enough- hitting would certainly harm our relationship and set a bad example in our case. I have a non-spank friend who says The Discipline Miracle is a great book. I believe different methods work well for different children. It's a very positive thing IMO that your DD is asserting herself- sounds like she's self assured!
