Food dehydrator recipies?

whats your favorite? Ds got a food dehydrator for his 3rd b-day b/c of his love of Kale chips (which we get at our little organic food store, but they are super expensive!)

I also want to make onion bread. So far we have done bananas, and pinapple rings.

Any other ideas for yummy foods to try making?

Well I made onion bread yesterday... sooo good, we already ate it all!

Onion bread:
3 sweet onions (must be the sweet kind!)
1 cup flax seeds, ground up (I left a handful out, and put them in whole)
1 cup sunflower seeds, ground up
3 OZ of soy sauce or tamari (or similar kind of sauces work too!)
3 TBS olive oil, you can also substitute an avacado instead.
Agave or honey, to taste (optional)

Put onions in food processor until chopped small, but not mush (or chop by hand)
Add everything else and stirr
Taste, Add agave/honey if you want

spread 1/4" thick or so onto dehydrator tray (or parchment paper cut to size)
Dry about 5 hours or so, either until dry but still soft/flexable, or very dry like a cracker.
Use as crackers, or as bread for veggie burgers!

Kale Chips:
Kale (about 1lb)
1 cup nutritional yeast
2TBS olive oil
2Tbs water
cyanne pepper to tase.

Mix everything together, dry for a coupel hours - yummy chips! ds loves these and they are healthy!

You can also add 1/2 cup or so of ground up nuts, something softer like cashew or macadania.

Fruit leather:

any combo of fruit, chopped small

blend it up until its applesauce consistancy - depending on what it is, you may want to chop it up and cook it a bit before you blend it (apples for example). Taste it and add honey/agave/sugar if you want - not too much! It gets sweeter when you dry it.

spread 1/4 thick on dehydrator tray, try to make it even. Sprinkle with cinnomon if you want.

Dry it until it looks like fruit leather! (took 4-5 hours for the apple we tried)

Thanks!!! Can't wait to try the kale chips especially! And what did you treat your banana chips with to keep their colour and texture even?

The Kale chips sound amazing!!!

We have two dehydrators and only use them for beef jerky and my DH uses a mix for that, so I don't have any recipes to share.
