recipe help please......I have 20 pears just picked, what to make?
 

Hey mamas, I have a bunch of pears I picked last night....I'm thinking of makink pear butter, but I'm not sure.....any ideas or recipes...greatly appreciated!!!!

Btw: only kiddos like pears so that's Why I was leaning towards pear butter.....

never heard of pear butter......sounds delicious! Do you have a recipe?

I wanted to suggest dump cake. I made it a few weeks ago with pears and pinapple....gosh that was delicious!!!

Well the basic recipe....is pears, sugar, allspice or combo of your fave similar spices......cook down pour in jars hot and viola' :) it is yummy and because pears are so much sweeter than apples you use way less sugar!

Oooh, we :wub: pear crisp! Just like apple crisp, only with pears.

Slice 4-6 pears (depending on size-about 2 cups worth) and place in greased casserole dish (I use 8x8). In a bowl mix 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup oats, 1 tbsp cinnamon, 1/2 tbsp nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Pour in 4-6 tbsp melted butter (depends on how "gooey" you want it). Mix topping and spoon over pears. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until golden brown and pears are tender. We like it served with vanilla ice cream. :thumbsup:

DH loves pear dumplings! Just make them pretty much the same way as apple dumplings.

well my canning got railroaded....we had pear peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, and i froze the rest......dh and kids raved :)

pear sauce (like apple sauce)
pear compote on top of ice cream and dutch babies
