hemp help??

My ds has never had a rash even w/sposies.But I put on a Swaddlebees w/hemp insert & he has a rash. Before I jump to the fact that he is allergic I want to see if I might need to wash hemp differently or something.:headscratch:

So how do you care for hemp?

Re: hemp help??

Is is the fleece? Has he had microfleece next to his skin before? How about PUL on the outside, especially with the heat lately. If you didn't prewash them well, I'd say to do some HOT washes with a little dawn and rinse till there's no suds to strip the natural oils out of the hemp and then try again.

He has been using the swaddlebees fine w/a prefold & the micro inserts...That is why I thought it might be the hemp.

Ok I did wash the hemp insert but not like a deep clean I just washed them like normal.I guess I will deep clean it with some dawn & try again. Thanks

Try boiling the insert for 15 minutes.

Re: hemp help??

If the insert was new, it needs to be prepped. It should be washed on on hot for several washes (3+) to wash out the natural oils and maximize the absorbancy. After it has been prepped, it does not require any different care. If it is your only hemp, you could boil then rinse it several times.

He may be reacting the the hemp oils or the urine is not soaking in as fast, so it is staying on his skin for longer, which can cause rash. I hope you figure it out soon.
