Percentile Question
I am curious if the early percentile figures for your kiddos have played out. If your baby was high/low percentile did they stay there as they got older or do the numbers often level out?

Re: Percentile Question
This is just my experience...I have 7 kids. All were born big..smallest was 8 lbs 5 oz and biggest was 10 lbs 14 oz. All stayed pretty big thru the first year, consistently near the top of the chart percentile wise. But all semed to stop at a year and grow slooow after that! Then they started being in the 25th% or up to the 50th% ...they are all on the smallish side are average I guess, 16, 15 and 13 and the 15yo is the only one a bit taller, 5'5" I think..but then, I am only 5'4" and dh is 5'9" so it is not 3yo ds is only 30 lbs and 11ds is the scrawniest kid ever and he was the biggest at almost 11 lbs! Anyway....that is just how it worked for last baby will be 1 next week and she was over 9 lbs, and stayed big..but is now 22 lbs and the dc baby I used to watch was way smaller than her and now(at 3 weeks in age behind her) is 23 lbs....she is on the slow

Re: Percentile Question
well i dont have that much experience yet. But dd#1 was born in the 90th range and has stayed there for her weight and heigth and is now 2.5 years old. The only thing that has slowed down for her range is her head (which was over the 100th percentile at birth and its finally down to like 60th lol). dd#2 has also kept in the same percentile range. 75th for weight, 95th for height and she is 8 months old!

Re: Percentile Question
My 4 yr old son Nathaniel started out at the 90th percentile for his first 6 months, he's now barely on the charts at all in height and weight. However he has some health issues that may have caused that. Ethan, my 7 wk old has also started out at the 90th percentile at both, so will have to see how he does. :)

Re: Percentile Question
My first was always in the 90+ %'s...and now, at 28mo..he's like 75th-95th %'s...ped said he'll probably be a pretty big guy (not like overweight, but just tall & sturdy)...but my 2nd has been in the 25th-50th the whole time..but he's just 9mo. I don't see him taking a major growth spurt and getting into the 90something %'s though.

Re: Percentile Question
All my girls were small when born, as babies and now at 4, 5 & 7 are still small.

Re: Percentile Question
Mia was born in the 100% range at 8lbs 13 oz. She lost down to 7 ponds 2 ounces due to the fact that I didn't make milk and was starving my poor baby. :( Well, she gained back to the 90% on bothheight and weight. At about 9 months she was in 70% for hieght and 90% for weight. At her 15 month appointment she was in the 40% for height and 50% for weight.

Re: Percentile Question
My boys have been around 10% ever since they were in the womb. I'm thinking they are closer to average now, at least in weight. In height they are shrimps.

Re: Percentile Question
Have you checked out the new WHO growth standards? They definitely are different than what's been out there for the last few decades.
