Calling all bleach users--does any one bleach pockets and how often?
 

I happily bleached my flats and prefolds, but washed my covers separately b/c I didn't want to ruin them. It seems like I've see several people say that they bleach pockets regularly (like every load) and have had no problem.

I just switched to pockets, so I'm a little worried about using bleach all the time.

I like bleach. My diapers don't stink anymore. And now that Tide sucks, I have to use bleach every load, even with that. I'm just wondering if it will all survive, or if I will wind up replacing things in the near future d/t frequent bleaching.

Any experience?

I actually just bleached mine the other day..But i only use bleach like once a month, and i fill it up to the max and only add 1/4 cup bleach..but it really helps..they smell so fresh when they are done :D

I've been bleaching everything for a year now, no issues.

I think it depends on how much bleach you are using too..... I was using 1-2 capfuls in a full load when I was using bleach, but it wasn't over a very long period of time (I posted another thread about finally figuring out my stink problem :lostit:).

I was thinking about this too... I have well water, but my parents have town water, so their water is chlorinated already. At least I think it's chlorinated. It smells like bleach :yuck: so I'm wondering if using a small amount of bleach in well water to wash your diapers is the same as using town water anyway? :headscratch:

I use 1/2 scoop oxiclean in every load (every other day) and I wash everything together, PFs, pockets, PUL covers, etc

I bleach everything, including covers every wash. I use 1/4-1/2 cup in the dispenser drawer.
Been doing it for 6 years now without one single dipe issue. I do rinse really well though.
