DS terrified of the weirdest noises - normal??

Ok, this is so strange to me but my 10 month old totally wiggs out over certain noises. Today it was my packing tape gun as I was taping a box shut. He seemed terrified. I had to pull the tape out SLOWLY and he watched me with a look like 'you had better not, lady!' I was mixing craft marbles for a mosaic I was working on in a metal bowl and he freaked out then, too. Sudden load power tools scare him but he is fine if he hears it from a distance then it gets louder. He is not, however, afraid of the vacuum - he actually chases me around and stands right in the way. I am not sure what to do with this, is this normal? :headscratch:

he is only 10mos, loud unexpected noises, especially those he has never heard before, are gonna freak him out. My 8mos old is the same way, so is my 21mos old, and my 4 yr old...lol

My daughter is 2 and she spazzes out at unusual noises as well. She heard my boyfriend moving around upstairs in our bedroom (it's a loft in our apartment) and she started screaming and attached herself to me. Same thing happens most times when someone knocks on the door. Things that she doesn't hear with regularity every single day scare the jeebus out of her.

My DS loves to watch the space themed baby einstein tape but freaks out at the same part/toy in the movie. As soon as the toy rocketship racer is gone he is ok. I am not sure if its the toy or the music at that same moment but it sure is wierd!
