Is this something new for PUL?
I haven't made diapers in years from pul. I bought some the other day, one cut looks the way I remember with a smooth layer of clear coating on one side and the other cuts the clear coating looks dimpled or something. It's 1ml pul so I'm just nervous I guess but is that some newfangled coating process?

Re: Is this something new for PUL?
If the coating is dimpled, it is just poorly laminated. It may result in leaking, or it may not. It may wear more quickly though. Depending on where you bought it, I'd send it back.

Re: Is this something new for PUL?
Actually, if by "dimpled" you mean that the back has little even dots all over, then it's just laminated using a different process. I'm sure there's lots of information out there about the differences if you want to read them, but from my experience, both are equally effective and long lasting.

Yes, there are a few manufacturers, and they use different processes. Both are ok and well tested

Re: Is this something new for PUL?
I should have read better...
If it just appears dimpled, but no rough grooves, etc. then it is indeed fine. DOH! |
Re: Is this something new for PUL?
thank you!

Re: Is this something new for PUL?
wazoodle had a really great tutorial on different ways PUL is manufactured. If I can find it, I'll link it back here.
eta....Ak! the link is dead. Anyhow, it did say that the dotted lamination was OK. |
