2,012 items in 2012

Back in 2009 we did a "get rid of 2,009 items in 2009" project. We were putting our house on the market and needed to declutter. We moved into our new house 1.5 years ago and now I'm at the point again where I'm feeling the need to do a major purging again. Anyone want to join me? Last time I kept track in a notebook (which I still have), and I think I will do the same this time. I'm excited to get rid of STUFF!!!!

I think it would be awesome! Maybe I should keep the bags of goodwill stuff sitting by the front door LOL I honestly don't think I have 2000 items I could donate. Once we find out the babies sex ill start donating the other clothes.

it's amazing how quickly the items add up--a pair of socks that have a hole in them (toss, not donate), barrettes that don't get worn, an expired bottle of advil, etc, etc!!

I'm in.
I already have my list for the 52 weeks of organizing, it will be neat to see how many items I remove. Plus, it's an incentive to reach the goal.

I'm intrigued! What does 52 weeks of organizing entail?

Curious as to what other people's methods are... I've been known to just walk inside rooms with a giant trash bag and leave with it full, straight to the alley :giggle2:

My 13 y.o was less than impressed with me yesterday... I just can't STAND clutter!

Oh, fun! I'll be following along, but I think trying to keep track would end up being just one more thing for me. :)

So what is the criteria for the 2,012 and the 52 weeks things? Does a pair of socks count as one or two things? We are doing a huge move so doing both of these would help us immensely!

I did 2011 items this year (actually probably more than twice, I just stopped counting) & I counted everything. It isn't hard at all. I just kept track on my calender until Feb when I reached the first 2011 items). I will probably do it again as soon as we get our new place & all our belongings are in our possession again (Army move).

i think it's just how you decide to count them.personally i would count a pair of socks as 1, but if you want to do it as 2 you can! i also never counted things like junk mail that i would be tossing anyways.
