For those of you with children (soon to be older siblings)

When and how are you telling your children about the baby on the way? I am lost on this-I don't know what to do.....ideas/advice would be great.
Also my dd will be with her daddy from mid Jan until the end of May so I'll be about 25 weeks at that point-I want to tell her in person-I think I need to wait but I don't want to get out of the car and confuse her......Ug....what to do? What would you do? What are you planning on doing and when? Thanks

I have always told my older children right away about my pregnancy, but it was so SO hard when I had my miscarriage in June and to be perfectly honest, I've never had a proper talk with them about the baby we lost. Just the thought of that conversation tears me up. We have decided to wait at least until the end of the first trimester if I can contain my excitement that long, lol.

and wow, you won't see her at all for those months? I can't imagine being away from my kids for that long. Our record time apart from the kids is 2 days.

I dis the same with dd with my m/c and it was hard (esp since ex-h was expecting also) I just need some good ideas......I want to do what's best for her, I just didn't want to do it on Skype but may have to.?

Hmmm, well, do you usually show quickly? Maybe at 25 weeks you could still hide the belly with a baggy top until you got home? In that case, I would probably just tell her right before she leaves.... I wouldn't want to do it over skype either.

Is she old enough to understand? I told my kids right away but it would be really hard to understand if something happened. I had a miscarriage before ods and when it came up last year he was SO concerned and weirded out, poor kid (he is 10).

Dd will be 4 on Monday. And with my mc I was starting to show (as in my pants were too tight) at 8wks. I told her about that baby and she was confused when I had my mc (her step mom was also pregnant though) I know its too early eight now, but I don't want to shock and confuse her when I pick her up either.......
