The forgotten diapers...Ew

Okay so I went and forgot a poopie prefold and another pee diaper. Left them in the wet bag and forgot about them for 2 weeks :banghead: So I took them out and rinsed them out, and the ammonia smell was aweful. I'm about to put them in with a load of diapers-how should I treat them, soak over night?

This has never happened to me so my advice might not be that great BUT I would NOT wash those diapers with your other ones...I once read somewhere that the ammonia could spread to your other diapers and then you have a real problem!
Hopefully someone else will be able to give you some more helpful advice though! Good luck!

I forgot about two diapers in my time. Both were poopy and molded over. I threw them away immediately. LOL. I didn't even bother.

But don't wash them with others!

I agree, wash separately. I would personally soak it.

SOak the two diapers over night in HOT water, vinegar, and oxiclean. In the morning wash them seperately with your normal wash routine. They should be good after that. The oxiclean and vinegar together will remove the urine crystal formed when ammonia has set in. HTH!

Meh, as long as no mushrooms were growing on it you can always clean them up.

I wouldn't wash with the other dipes untill they were in better condition. If they have ammonia from the urine evaporating and the urea setteling into the fibers (not to mention the bacteria). Wash them with dawn in the sink and let them soak a good while. Then wash them in the washer with bleach. They should be better.

Yes I agree with the not washing with your others until they've had a good presoak and rinse. Vinegar soaks work wonders on my ammonia.
