Spitting up, allergies?

DD is having more solids, and is spitting up now. Rarely ever did before. Is this a sign of food allergies? I have been laid back about feeding, but haven't waited a few days before a new food. Help!

How old?

My daughter never really spit up and my pediatrician said that she'd definitely start spitting up more after 6 months. (she technically did, but still it was very rare).

Just thinking if you just started solids, then your LO might be 6months-ish.

I forget the reason. Digestive system maturation or something.

6 months.....that's interesting

Take the solids even slower. Tiny tiny amounts here or there. Making ur own and freezing in tiny portions helps :)

Babies should start spitting up less (not more) after 4-6 months as the lower esophageal sphincter matures.

I'd cut back on the solids a bit. Stick to a single food for a few days, then add another once or twice a week. Feed her just a teaspoon or so once or twice a day until her tunny gets more used to it. :)

I agree. I had been just giving her organic barley biscuits. She won't eat purées. And then whatever we have been eating. This week I added organic puffs. Maybe I should just go back to the barley biscuits? She really wants food!

Re: Spitting up, allergies?

according to the little research I did, the reason that my pediatrician told me specifically that babies spit up more after 6months seems to be tied to the fact that most babies start teething at about that time and the excess saliva sometimes causes tummy issues.

and it was true for our child. Prior to 6months, she maybe spit up 2-3 times. From 6-9 months, she probably spit up 5 or so times.

That makes sense....she is working on some teeth!
