Mama's in Germany, Bawu, Hessen, Bayern, its getting warm outside...

shall we meet up?

I would love to see the mamas in Germany expat, military and local mamas getting together for some events over the summer.

It would be great to plan some bbqs or maybe a trip to one of the bigger zoos like ludwigshafen is it?

What do you ladies think?

I'd love to! We are going to need things to do this summer, and Ludwigshafen is only an hour from me at Ramstein.

Ok there is one in stuttgart called wilhelm and a tierpark in ludewigshafen.

The one in Ludwigshafen says it has 30 hectors, and over 200 different animals. And its rated good from small and older kids.

Entry is not bad 3.20 for adults, 1.00 for kids and under 4 is free

and a map of the zoo
http://www.ludwigshafen.de/fileadmin...dpark_plan.pdf

Stuttgart has the wilhelm zoo with botanical gardens
They have 9,000 animals, I think this one is going to be more like a US zoo vs a animal park.

This one is much more prices 12.00 per adult, 6 for kids, or 30 for a family card

http://www.wilhelma.de/

Both do group discounts if we come with 15 people and kids count in that total

Any update on a meet up? I'm new to this site and would be interested! Wilhelma is a beautiful place and in my opinion it's worth the extra cost.

Not yet. We are still working out the details. I know we have more mams but they are mainly active on the main board so I may send out some pm messages.

I really want to go to Whilhelma. I really miss big zoos and DS has never been to one.

Liz where are you located at? Are you new in Germany? Or just new to DS?

Welcome, you should introduce yourself. Its pretty quioet at the moment but there are quiet a few international mamas and at least a few dozen Germany mamas that I know of off hand.

:wave2:I'm located in Stuttgart. Actually, I live walking distance from the zoo! I've been in Germany for almost a year and I'm new to DS. I'm expecting my first baby in Dec. and would love whatever cloth diapering advice anyone wants to share with me. :) I've already got a small start to my stash!

Do you plan to use European diapers or order from the US? If you have any particular questions feel free to ask.

I have been here since 2008. I am down by Freiburg.

So far I've been ordering them online from the states because I'm one of those lucky people that aren't military, but still get access to all the bases and an APO address. I've been having trouble finding cloth diapers in stores. Granted, I've only checked Baby Walz. Do they sell cloth diapers at Baby One? My biggest question for you is what laundry detergent would you recommend? We use Ecover for our clothes and I'm wondering if it's a good detergent for cloth diapers. Thanks!

No aside from flats and some wool covers you will not find cloth diapers in stores.

Germans use flats or fitteds and wool. The PUL that is avilible is most often popolini/Motherease out of the UK.

If you want to buy used you can check out www.naturwindeln.de they have a flohmarkt section also some ads from various wahm shops that sell cds within Germany, but the price is generally at least 30% more then the US from what I have seen and the brands are pretty limited, cotton babies stuff, grovia I have seen in online shops.
