I just got my Mom's old bread maker & used it last night - yum! I'm in search of good recipes for a 1.5 lb loaf machine....please share if you've got one you love!

Here's one of my faves. Just made it yesterday with my son:

Cinnamon Raisin Bread (1.5 lb)

1 1/4 c. water
2 T. margarine or butter, softened
3 1/4 c. flour (I use all whole wheat and it works great, but you can mix 1/2 and 1/2 white and wheat too)
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
1 t. ground cinnamon
2 t. yeast

3/4 cup raisins

Measure and add wet ingredients to pan

Measure and add dry ingredients to pan (except yeast)

Use your finger to form a well in the flour where you will pour the yeast. Yeast must NEVER come in contact with a liquid when you are adding ingredients. Measure the yeast and carefully pour it in the well

From here on, our machines might differ, but set it to a sweet bread setting (or white bread) and start it.

Put in the raisins after it has kneaded for a while. Sprinke in a few at a time until they're incorporated.

Hope you enjoy this.

ooh thanks for that one. mine actually has a yeast dispenser. i'll have to try that though. sounds yummy!

i visted HBH the other day and i skimmed through the bread stuff - it seems those were for 2lb loaves....i need to see if there's an easy conversion to my size machine.

I do make my own once in awhile, but sometimes I buy the mixes when they are on sale for 99cents each. I love to get the hawaiian bread mix, and add in fresh cooked ground sausage and chunks of cheddar cheese.....it is soo yummy!!

Here is some of my favorites.....

Maple Bars

1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons margarine or butter softened
1 egg
3 1/3 cups bread flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons regular active dry yeast.

Put all in bread machine in order listed.
Press your dough setting.

When finished, roll dough out to about 1/2 inch rectangle.
Cut into maple bar shapes like how they look at a bakery. Around 5 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide.
Let raise on greased cookie sheet about 30 minutes in warm place.
Fry in hot oil until just golden brown. Don't over cook.
Let drain on paper towels.

Maple Frosting...

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 to 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar

Combine brown sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla. Cool to lukewarm. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until it reaches spreading consistency.

Frost maple bars.

Chili Bread bowls.....

1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons margarine or butter softened
1 egg
3 1/4 cup bread flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons regular active dry yeast

Place in bread machine in order listed
Press dough setting.

When finished, divide dough into 4 round balls
Let rise for 30 to 45 minutes in warm dry place on greased cookie sheet
Bake at 375' for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown
When cool cut off 1/4 of the top of roll and set aside
Scoop out the middle to hollow it out but be careful not to break through the sides.

Fill with chili, cheese and top it with your reserved lid
