So I have a few volunteer plants in the compost pile, lol! Needless to say I haven't been so good at turning it . Can you help me ID them?

Ha! Acorn squash or some really hulkified zucchini?

They both look like pumpkins to me. A fairy type and either a big max type (more soft rind-ed and squash like) or a white pumpkin. What did you have for halloween last year? ;)

I was going to guess Acorn squash or a pumpkin :).

No pumpkins that I recall. I was thinking the really ribbed dark one is acorn but DH disagrees. I think the other poos like a sugarbaby watermelon watermelon but it's in a squash plant! I dunno! Most of the group is butternut and they are easy to pick out but these two have got me stumped!

What I meant was, if you didn't plant your own pumpkins, did you buy some? Did the remains wind up in the compost bin? ;) I'd still bet money on those being some form of pumpkin. LOL I tried to grow spaghetti winter squash last year (didn't like our heat) and the vine didn't look like that.

Nope no pumpkins consumed, not even jackolanterns! I'm stumped :(.

Gardens are a mystery sometimes. Could be that a bird decided to dig in your bin and left an offering there, or a rat or squirrel nested there and brought his stolen loot with him. Should be interesting! I should take a pic of my mystery plant. :giggle:
